Here is Lost Coast Overland’s Tacoma on day one! We started off with a 2017 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Short Bed with the TRD Off-Road package. Nothing beats the Tacoma’s reliability, off road capability, and utility in one package; making it a no brainer to be matched up with our Rubicon.
2nd generation Tacoma’s & up face a unique issue of the rear fenders flaring out under years of load by a camper shell due to its composite bed pan. For the sake of foresight we put in these Total Chaos Bed Stiffeners to make up for that lose in bed rigidity and eliminate any sag in the rear fenders in the years to come with the AT Habitat truck topper on it.

Continuing the trend of foresight we installed MetalTech’s bolt on sliders. These will prevent any “Oops” moments while on the trail.
Following the sliders we installed an OEM roof rack. The roof is the easiest place to add to the utility of any vehicle, as an added bonus these roof racks add some more styling to the truck.

One of the issues with being off the grid is making your own grid. Being able to recharge equipment and keep you refrigerator running allows you to stay off the beaten path much longer than you otherwise would. The way we decided to maximize our “grid” was with the Genesis dual battery kit, paired with two Odyssey 34-PC1500T. With 850 CCA, 68 Ah, and 135 reserve time, we will have all the power to keep us powered up off the grid without having to worry about a dead starting battery.

After making sure we had the juice to handle being off the grid for long periods of time, we now had to work on making sure we could sustain ourselves while we're off the grid. We added the ARB 47Qt Fridge/ Freezer so we could keep beverages and food cold indefinitely without having to get ice continually. With the help of ARB's Wiring Harness and outlet we made quick work of this installation and were able to get it set up on their RDRF System to make sure we can maximize cargo capacity and maintain organization.
